General notes about Debian
Debian is a community driven Linux distribution. Ubuntu Linux is based on Debian.
Debian 12 is the newest stable release and is named ‘bookworm’. See https://www.debian.org/releases/ for more details. ‘testing’ refers to the next stable release (named trixie, Debian 13). The ‘unstable’ distribution is always named ‘sid’.
If you are a developer and interested in the newest developments, I recommend installing the ‘testing’ distribution.
